This is a decidedly "two-sided" document, the music seemingly chosen for maximum contrast. "Side One" is an extended composition that would, in Braxton's later ordering of things, become "Composition No. 36". It shows him in a severe mode, without the steady rhythmic impetus of his "head" compositions. The original "Side Two" is utterly different, a usually breezy trip through three jazz standards accompanied by the bass work of Dave Holland. Also features Richard Teitelbaum on Moog synthesizer and percussion.
