First edition hardcover copy of Early Irish Literature by Myles Dillon (University of Chicago Press, 1948). An introduction to the mythology, legend, stories and songs of ancient Ireland. Very scarce, especially with original dust jacket. New archival sleeve now protects heavily worn jacket from further damage. Jacket has large pieces missing around the edges and with tears and some discoloration. A bit of liquid damage to top fore corner of jacket to some of text block. Boards are straight and clean but with corners bumped. Binding is beginning to loosen a bit, with binding visible in a few gutters, though spine is fairly straight, all pages are attached, and hinges are secure. Some underlining and margin notes, none of which obscure text. Small inscriptions on front and rear endpapers. Tanned pages. See photos for condition.
