I am not an expert on sound quality, so I cannot comment on it.
The fast forward motor runs, but the tape does not move at all.
This unit was used indoors for a short period to record musical performances and has been stored for a long time.
It has a mechanical and carefully crafted build, and I would like to keep it, but I will not be using it for its intended purpose in the future, so I am putting it up for sale.
