Komori Shoan was a person who was devoted to the tea ceremony from a young age and was active as a potter and tea scoop artist. He produced pottery mainly of Shino, Kuro-raku, Shigaraki, and Bizen, and was particularly skilled at making tea scoops. With his refined style, he deepened exchanges with many people through tea utensils.
Biography
Born in Tokyo in 1901 as the eldest son of politician Komori Yusuke and Teruko Akahoshi. His grandfather was Yanosuke Akahoshi, known as a collector of tea utensils.
From a young age, he was devoted to the tea ceremony and gradually began making pottery and carving tea scoops.
Around 1930, he 본격적으로 started making tea scoops, and in 1954, he held his first tea scoop exhibition at the Shibuya Tokyu Department Store.
He served as a caretaker of the "Tori-kai" and interacted with famous potters of the time, such as Toyozo Arakawa.
He passed away in 1989 at the age of 87. This is the book.
