The risk is highest on DC Voltage systems, like some 2-wire irrigation controllers, but it can still be a risk for standard 24 VAC irrigation and landscape controllers. Easy Seal waterproof wire connectors and direct burial grease tubes (also known as “grease caps”) are a smart way to protect your investment. Easy Seal waterproof wire connectors are ideal for 24 VAC solenoids in valve boxes, while grease tubes are ideal for 2-wire and direct burial applications. Typical installation of Easy Seal connectors is to directly push the solenoid and sprinkler controller wire into the cap and twist it. You should not reuse waterproof wire connectors. Typical installation for the grease tube is to push the decoder and solenoid wire into the wire nut, twist it, insert the wire nut all the way into the tube, and lock the lid into place.
